True free to air(FTA)channels that never go down by providers at 123w KU

Monday 10 December 2007 @ 1:59 am

FTA=free to air.

Free to air channels are very fun to have, though not many of them are premiums and such, there still very interesting and enjoyable to have. These FTA channels remain up at all times and are not attacked by ecm’s as These channels are not encrypted.

A great starting point is 123w-G10r.

This bird requires a minimum of a 30″ dish.(depending on your location,it may be larger).

This can be determined here:

http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/galaxy10r_ku.html

Use the map to get your DBW strength, and the corresponding chart to the right to determine the dish size required.

You will also need a linear lnb.

So what kind of channels are located on this satellite?

Have a look here:

http://www.lyngsat.com/galaxy10r.html

Note the band info to the right.Scroll down to KU band.(the C band requires a large 6 foot to 12 foot dish,C band is another topic).

As you can see there are some Foreign channels but most are English. We will focus on the English.

You can view an ABC,a FOX,and many RTN (retro tv network) some radio channels and more for some examples.

For some examples of programs and events that can be seen on 123w KU band:

What is full emu?

Thursday 6 December 2007 @ 11:50 pm

EMU=Emulation.
To emulate or too imitate/copy/act as the cards used in subscribed receivers. If this can be done 100% I can’t think of what they could do at that point that would affect only fta receivers.
But I’m no coder.Perhaps bins never can 100% fully emu a subbed card.I only say this because it hasn’t been done yet,so until then its unknown.

And how much flash rom size does it take to have full emu?
We will just have to wait and see.
But if it did, your fta receiver would not see keys roll anymore I don’t think as it would just think it was a subscribed card.

BUT then is the next question. If this 100% full emu does happen, will the providers then do a card swap?
Can they afford it?
What would stop coders from making a new full emu (with time of course) of the next card?
Time will tell.

Its fun to watch how it plays out, how,if,when coders will do the full emu.

Whats a good starting point for hardware in the fta hobby?

Thursday 6 December 2007 @ 8:54 pm

Over the years of being in this hobby,id like to save you allot of time of trial and error by sharing a list of what will provide you the most enjoyable and fun fta experience.First, remember to not enter this with expecting tv all the time for all channels otherwise you WILL be disappointed.Enter your new hobby as just that,a hobby. My list does include basics to keep tv all the time.Forget about being stuck in the rut about brand names with fta receivers this is the worst thing you can do to fully enjoy the hobby, you MUST explore other brands, trust me on this one.Reason one being having at least two different brand name units WILL over time=less down time,as sometimes its others are up while others are still down.Reason number two is other brands have different features/and or quality features some others in same price range do not.

1.A dish 500 pointed at 119/110

2.A dish 500 pointed at 91/82

3.A 30″(minimum,and depending where you live) dish with a linear lnb.point it at 123w G10-r.this bird has many Free To Air English channels.many RTN (retro tv network)for older shows.but many newer ones also.and even movies during the weekend.primarily all best shows are on during prime time. Its fairly basic.and about 16 English channels.but worth having for some completely free tv that never goes down.between this and your pvr recordings, the down times will be MUCH less of a bother to you.

4.A well supported basic receiver.

5.A well supported receiver made by someone else from that of the first receiver.this one should have pvr function. and you should use it ALLOT.

6.A switch/switches to combine them all,so the receiver can view all channels simply by changing them in the guide.

7.a dvd burner to make a hard copy of your pvr recordings.

8.Full vip membership to abadss.com

This is very affordable, and insures you will not run into harmful files you see on some, but not all of course, other sites.Protect your investment.Well worth the small membership fees.A large site with great moderators who will treat you will respect. But will not let the children run lose to waste your time while your leaning either. The owner is a class act,and set’s the forum up nicely for his mods to keep organized so you can find everything quickly. If you haven’t stopped by,please drop in and say hello.

But 3 dishes! that will not work where i am,i have no place to hide that dish farm!

Not to worry, get yourself a good sized dish like 34″-36″ with a motor and invacom lnb.

This is best for even more channels, and cleaner looking. But will have to wait for channel changes as the dish turns to correct bird channel is on.

follow this list as closely as you can afford and your new hobby will be very enjoyable.
