SonySat drawing closer to releasing iks solution

Tuesday 13 May 2008 @ 8:09 pm

SonySat drawing closer to releasing iks solution.

IKS,a FAR superior solution than cardless files, for countless less downtime hours monthly.Team X,the coding team for SonySat and SpaceStar releases information regarding their iks solution and the security measures they have taken for the end users.here is a copy and paste of the progress and information:

An Introduction to AKS/IKS on the SonySat

STATUS
First off I thought I’d give a status update on AKS/IKS. The client and server software for AKS/IKS has been written, tested, and is ready to go. We are currently busy arranging the deployment of the server software - we expect this to be finished this week.

What is AKS/IKS?
To understand what AKS/IKS is I must first explain a bit about how DVB works. DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) is a international standard used by many sattelite providers world wide. Its a system that uses “Control Words” which change every 15 seconds to decrypt video. Currently most FTA’s use a ‘card emulator’ which is a complicated peice of software that emulates the actual card to produce these code words.

AKS/IKS takes the emulator out of the equation and uses a internet connection to hand off that task to a central server. This server typically uses a combination of software and the actual card to generate the codewords for you and returns the results. Given that a card is involved IKS/AKS systems rarely go down (and almost never have extended downtime).

IKS is a term first coined by nFusion, and stands for Internet Key System. AKS stands for Anonymous Key System - and is a type of IKS developed by the X Team.

Sounds Great - whats the catch?
All IKS systems have the same fundamental flaw - communication between your home and the central server can be logged - this exposes your personal identifying information in the event of legal action. Its sort of like the lawsuits against file sharers you’ve heard so much about.

The solution to this problem is to use a proxy or anonymizing service to protect your identity. AKS is just such a solution. AKS uses the TOR network - a free anonymizing service provided by the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF) . Tor was developed to protect the identities of disidents in repressive regimes - and I highly recommend you donate something to their efforts. More information on tor can be found at http://tor.eff.org - they have a paypal link for donations.

How does it work on SonySat and SpaceStar Receivers?
AKS on SonySat and SpaceStar receivers requires a few basic prequisites:

1) You need a X1 Dongle
2) You need a Windows 98 (or higher) PC, with a internet connection, and bluetooth.
3) OPTIONAL: we highly recommend you install the tor client from tor.eff.org.
4) Download and install the soon to be released AKS Client (it will be posted on this site within the next week).

AKS uses the dongle to establish wireless connectivity between your PC and the STB using bluetooth. The AKS client uses that connectivity to call the AKS server to provide you with the code words required for the channel you are viewing. Once setup, your STB will operate just as it does now - but will have the advantage of a more long lasting/stable fix.

Our more technical users will also be pleased to hear the the AKS Client supports using private NewCS 1.50 card servers. This is similiar to using the provided AKS Server (in that it uses a card to generate code words), but has the advantage of fewer users and the added security of a private server.

This is part one of my AKS/IKS primer - as the week progresses I’ll post more information, including install instructions and screenshots.

IKS testing for coolsat,Homesat,Visionsat and more now underway

Monday 14 April 2008 @ 9:38 am

IKS testing for coolsat,Homesat,Visionsat and more now underway.

IKS solution stated to be in the works for all coolsat models along with Homesat,Visionsat and more from site administrator Blind Scan yesterday.

With the new card swap of nagra 3 on the way, many coding groups are gearing up for what could possibly be the only working solution at least for a little while.

here is the copy & paste about the latest news:

new hope for older models fta
I will explain it for you all so there is no mistakes.

IKS mebelimebeli type dongle that will work with 6100/7000/7100/8000/8100 to start with and they will get it to work with the 4/5/6 in a month or so afterwards or something else at that time. There was only 4 people in the usa that knew about it so its not hard to figure out who has a big mouth lol.

This dongle will also be made to work with other stbs such as orasat, homesat, visionsat and more to come.

Or cats out of the bag now.

Also I am currently testing on the cs8000 and so far so good. It works very well.

Most are preparing for the end to come or some serious down time with nagra 3. Go with what you know works best is all I can tell you.

Dongle (IKS) solution for all Captain models and Team Captain makes fta history!

Thursday 10 April 2008 @ 7:31 am

Yesterday,Team Captain, the coding team for Captain receivers announce IKS solution for all Captain models via an external adapter. When hooked up,your captain receiver will be connected to the internet keeping tv up during ecm hits. For those familiar with iks capable units such as the neosat ipro 2k and the nfusion nova, know that the iks solution is comparable to nothing else for tv up time.

Now,with your advanced Captain receivers your able to enjoy this feature. The captain receivers are well known for having some very nice advanced menu systems and one button setup (OBS).with OBS,you simply tell the receiver some basic dish hardware info such as if your using an external 4×1 diseqc or dp lnb for example, after which, the receiver enters your antenna settings for you, then scans for channels all in one step by itself.

History in the making also from Team Captain,as they are proud to announce, never done before, the first to bring high definition via IKS.

Here is the latest announcement from Team Captain:

c/p
Captain is now the FIRST FTA STB to have a STABLE Dongle (IKS) solution and the first to have a High Definition receiver working through IKS

Dear all:

It is with great pleasure we announce to you that we now have a working Dongle (IKS) solution for all Captain models. Currently the Dongle is working stable on about 220 channels which include all PPV and Adult on both providers. Also, there is one HD channel working on the Captain 8000HD to show that the solution is HD compatible. The rest of the channels will be added shortly!

Captain is now the FIRST HD receiver to work through IKS

The Dongle, as you can see in the attached pic, is portable and connects by serial port. It also requires power. (short serial cable and power cable included). Again, Captain has come through for you!

You can now expect many surprises to come from Captain in terms of new models. We are still working to make our Mpeg4 HD unit the lowest priced and most dependable in the market.

As for now, please use your influence and connections to create a new file section named “Captain Dongle” on each forum you are affiliated with

A LIMITED QUANTITY FOR OF CAPTAIN-COMPATIBLE DONGLES IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE

Thank you all for your continued support

Team Captain

Great receivers at affordable prices has been Captains way.Now bringing you IKS.Have you tried a Captain yet?

captiveworks make fta history

Friday 22 February 2008 @ 11:38 am

Yesterday coding team “Captive Works” made fta history by doing what others have so far only claimed they are close to doing.

“Captive Works” the coding team for captiveworks, released files a week ago for their models the 600s,600s premium,700,and 800pvr units.Yesterday there was an ecm that countered all other fta receivers runnings their files, but for the cw owner there was a pleasent surprise.

Not only did the units remain up,most users did not even notice a scrambled channel message. To top it off, bevs channel changing delay also disappeared. Many are wondering now,is this the famus “full emu” we have been reading about? Could the files running in the fta units somehow adjust themselfs and make the necessary changes to keep the channels open on their own?The cw owner knows there are never any messages from the coding team “Captive Works” and are simply used to seeing rather than hearing any news.

Now of course, all eyes will be on captiveworks units to see if they can do this again.Captiveworks as been leading through these bombardments of ecms of late making owners of other brands stand up and take notice. Now the units make history by remaining up while ALL others running files went down during a brand new ecm.The question is,will you take the captiveworks challenge and try one for yourself?

Conaxsat coding team CNX Construct announce emulation today.

Saturday 19 January 2008 @ 8:09 pm

Conaxsat coding team CNX Construct announce emulation today. With the never ending bombardments of Electronic Counter Measures as of late,CNX Construct come with the first arrival of an emulation file to work in their units to provide less down time.Truly a brake through in the FTA community. If you haven’t considered CNX yet,be sure to put them on your wish list.Their current models are the Mini (usb non pvr),the Duo (usb and pvr) and the Trio (dual usb pvr and divx multimedia system)

Here is a copy of the release notes provided with the new emulation files:

Conaxsat Construct is pleased to announce the completion of our new Emulation file. This level of emu has never been attempted on a FTA receiver.

This fix incorporates months of work by both our North American and European teams. This type of emulation is required and will take CNX into the next stage of FTA.

This means to the user significantly less downtime and the fastest possible response time. The importance of this file and this type of emulation will be apparent in the very near future.

Another first by our team means we will continue to offer unparalleled support well into the future.

Thank You,

Conaxsat Construct
